Gallery 263 and Porter Square Shopping Center are excited to invite New England artists to submit proposals for an original window artwork installation in the heart of Porter Square, Cambridge. We’re seeking bold, joyful, and imaginative original designs that bring color, movement, and creative energy to our streetscape.

Porter Square is a place of daily motion between commuters, neighbors, students, and longtime Camberville locals. These windows offer a highly visible canvas to surprise, delight, and inspire the community. We are looking for vibrant use of color, pattern, illustration, or abstract imagery that feels welcoming, inclusive, and dynamic in a public setting.

All printing and production costs will be fully covered by Porter Square Shopping Center, allowing artists to focus entirely on creativity and concept. Once installed outside of the windows, artwork will remain on view for approximately six months.

Please note that the existing wave design on the top windows will remain in place and should be considered part of the overall visual context. This call is specifically for artwork applied to the middle windows only. The selected artist(s) will be provided window dimensions upon selection in order to produce print-ready proofs for the vinyl.

This call is free to enter and open to artists at any stage in their career living in New England. Artists can apply individually or as a collaborative team for a single design*. For groups of artists, 100% of contributors must reside in New England.

Please see below for the site location and full application details. Application PDFs and any clarifying questions should be submitted to [email protected].

*Designs must not include text, logos, brand names, or references to businesses or organizations. As we are an organization committed to uplifting original art and the creativity of our neighbors, applications and designs cannot utilize any form artificial intelligence.
