Gallery 263 invites the greater Boston creative community to join us for the Field Studies (Symbiosis) reception! This temporary exhibition explores forest ecology through sound, movement, and immersive projections. This installation was crafted by longtime board president and movement artist Laura Kathrein in collaboration with experimental installation artist Fernanda D’Agostino, composer Lisa DeGrace, and natural scientists.
Beginning with an aerial overview of the Canadian Boreal Forest, this 30-minute immersion engages the natural world through deep investigations of the land. Moving through the wind, water, soil, pollination and hidden forest communication channels that shape the landscape, the exhibit intertwines movement, sound, images and unseen worlds to create an embodied field study that gives voice to the forest itself.
This event is open to the public, all are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be provided. We have a wheelchair accessible ramp available, please contact a member of our staff for use.
