Birthday Bash

Saturday, June 10, 11 am–5 pm

Gallery 263 is pleased to invite artists who live and / or work in Cambridge to participate in our Cambridge Community Exhibition. Gallery 263 is currently one of only a handful of art galleries in Cambridge. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we depend upon the generosity of our friends, fans, and patrons to help us keep our doors open and to help us fulfill our mission of fostering the lifelong engagement of artists and visitors. The 2023 Cambridge Community Exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the creative strength of our immediate community in conjunction with Gallery 263’s annual Birthday Bash event on Saturday, June 10.

Submission details:

Please note: There is no online form for this call for art. To participate, please bring work to the gallery on Sunday, June 4, from 10 am to 2 pm.

  • Part of the gallery’s mission is to show conceptually driven work. As such, we highly encourage artists to submit work that is conceptually driven.
  • Each artist can hand deliver one piece of artwork, no larger than 20 x 30 inches, on Sunday, June 4, from 10 am to 2 pm, to be included in the community exhibition. Artwork larger than 20 x 30 inches will not be accepted.
  • The community exhibition is capped at 60 artists in total, determined on a first-come-first-served basis. Artists must hand-deliver their own work, so they can complete the contract loan agreement in person.
  • Artwork must be wired, framed, or ready to hang without the use of magnets or pushpins.
  • Video/audio work will be unable to be presented during this exhibition.
  • Due to space limitations, this exhibition invites only artists who are living or working in Cambridge, MA, and we are unable to accept submissions from artists who are living and working outside of this region.
  • Artists can elect to have artwork for sale with the designation of donating 0%, 50%, or 100% of potential sales directly to Gallery 263. Artwork can be listed as not for sale. Donations support operating costs of our nonprofit, such as rent and electricity.
  • If accepted, artists must email an image of their work and social media handles, if any, to [email protected].

Submission fee:

The Cambridge Community Exhibition is a fundraising event for Gallery 263. Artists are asked to determine a submission fee of at least $20, which supports the gallery’s operating costs, such as keeping the lights on. Donations of more than $20 are greatly appreciated but not required.
