Nowhere Near\, a solo showcase by Yang\, is on view at the gallery through August 28. This event is a rare opportunity to view many of Yang’s unedited\, shot-on-camera short films in the evocative Kodak Black & White Reversal. Yang’s MFA thesis film\, Everything Comes Full Circle\, will also be featured with a new score by London-based composer Julian Tran. This event is free and open to all. \n\n\n\nAbout the Artist in Residence\n\n\n\nLilan Yang is a New England-based artist and experimental filmmaker from Chongqing\, China. Her practice explores the myth of cities and landscapes\, ways of seeing and unseeing\, and sentiments of remembering and forgetting\, through lens-based analog media such as 16mm filmmaking and 35mm photography\, as well as digital technologies such as machine learning and data visualization. She received a BS in Computer Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MFA in Digital + Media from Rhode Island School of Design.

From the art exhibition on view to the refreshments offered\, we’re sourcing local. \n\n\n\n\n\nThere will be music\, kid-friendly activities\, snacks\, and adult libations available. And\, of course\, birthday cake. Come help us blow out the candles! This event is free and open to all.  \n\n\n\nRSVP → \n\n\n\nGallery 263 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit creative space committed to advancing contemporary art. Our conceptually driven exhibitions and enriching community programming foster the lifelong engagement of artists and visitors. DESCRIPTION:Victoria Crayhon\,Untitled Greenland (Future Airport Parking)\, archival pigment print\, 30 x 44 inches\, 2022\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us on Sunday\, April 2\, for an artist talk with Victoria Crayhon\, a Rhode Island-based artist. Distant Early Warning Line\, a solo exhibition of images made in Greenland by Crayhon\, is on view at the gallery through April 15. This event is free and open to all. \n\n\n\nDistant Early Warning Line is an ongoing photographic study of the visible effects created by current international presence (including presence by the US and China) in Greenland and its multi-pronged attempt to benefit from climate change—specifically the ice melt.
