SUMMARY:All Glory\, Laud\, and Honor Reception
DESCRIPTION:Marcus W. Clarke\, Triumphal Entry\, 2025\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us in celebrating the opening of All Glory\, Laud\, and Honor\, an Exhibition Proposal Series show by Marcus W. Clarke\, on September 12 from 6 – 8 pm. \n\n\n\nThrough mixed media sculptures and technology\, Clarke challenges the inherent contradictions within American Christian subcultures\, such as violent imagery\, Zionist propaganda\, far-right sympathies\, and more. \n\n\n\nRaised under the expansive central Texas sky\, Marcus W. Clarke describes his work as both pastoral and foreboding. Thematically\, his practice engages with “negative theology\,” exploring the unknowability of God and the space left open for theological questioning. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP (optional)

SUMMARY:Surface Play: Exploring Texture\, Form\, and Transformation
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Jo Nanajian for a two-day\, hands-on sculptural workshop that explores the fundamentals of building form and experimenting with surface. Open to all skill levels\, this workshop invites participants into Jo’s personal process of combining structure and texture through playful\, process-based exploration \n\n\n\nDay One will focus on building simple armatures using chicken wire followed by applying plaster strips to create a solid sculptural base. Participants will learn how to handle the materials safely and confidently\, with plenty of time to develop their own unique form. \n\n\n\nDay Two will dive into surface experimentation. Jo will introduce a wide range of materials and techniques for texturing and finishing your piece. Participants will first test materials on paper and then apply them directly to their sculptures\, transforming each piece into something deeply personal and unexpected. \n\n\n\nPlease note: Some of the materials used in this workshop require the use of gloves and a face mask for safety. All necessary safety equipment will be provided. \n\n\n\nAges 18+ welcome; 16+ if accompanied by a guardian. \n\n\n\nEvent is two days (August 9 and 10) and participation in both days is required\, as each session builds upon the last. \n\n\n\n\ntickets (covers cost of materials) \n\n\n\n$20 \n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase tickets

SUMMARY:Canceled: Chinese New Year Fan Painting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Please note that this event has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a traditional Chinese New Year Fan Painting Workshop. \n\n\n\nPlum blossoms are a classic symbol of traditional Chinese culture. Blooming in the depths of winter\, when all else withers\, the plum blossom is a testament to the spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity. Renowned as one of the “Four Gentlemen” in Chinese culture\, the plum blossom has long been celebrated by scholars and poets as a symbol of purity and resilience\, as well as unyielding independence. \n\n\n\nOur instructor\, Skye\, will guide you in experiencing traditional Chinese ink and wash painting by creating a plum blossom scene on a small fan. Sky has been immersed in and practicing traditional Chinese ink and wash painting and calligraphy for more than 10 years. She will explain how to capture the essence of plum blossoms and demonstrate the contrast between thick and light ink\, along with the layering techniques that highlight the lingering charm of the flowers. Students will start on rice paper using a template before painting on their fans. Of course\, you are encouraged to express your creativity.  \n\n\n\nThe small fans for this workshop are smaller than regular fans and can be used as bookmarks or bag charms\, adding a splash of color to your daily life. You will stroll through a “plum blossom garden” and discover your unique fragrance of flowers.
