Many artist opportunities often ask for a portfolio, but how do you go about creating one? What pieces should you include? What order will create the most impact? In this virtual workshop, Boston-based art and Assistant Director of the Academy of Realist Art Julie Beck will guide participants through the process of creating a professional portfolio from start to finish. By the end, participants will have a clear roadmap on how to create a strong portfolio. There will be time at the end for select participants to receive feedback on their portfolios from Julie.
As an artist, finding external opportunities for your work is essential and applications can be difficult and opaque. In this virtual workshop, we will cover everything from residencies to open calls to grant proposals: how to find them, apply to them, and best practices to ensure your application is successful. Facilitator Timothy Hyunsoo Lee will share his insights on the process as a successful practicing artist, teacher, and juror.
Meet the Small Works Project artists who have work on view in the gallery flat files, browse the works, and learn more about the project!
