Classes

Mondays, 7:15 pm

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is the foundation of other asana-based yoga styles. “Hatha” is Sanskrit for “sun” and “moon”—thus, Hatha yoga is taught as a practice that brings balance to both the masculine and feminine sides of the body, the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. This style of yoga asana is suited for both the novice and advanced practitioner alike. Modifications of each pose are encouraged based on individual needs, and more challenging variations are available as well.

Wednesdays, 7:15 pm

Vinyasa Yoga

Find some peace and tranquility amidst the week as we explore and connect with our bodies through the synthesis of yoga, movement, breath, and meditative work. Each class aims to create an open and spacious foundation to receive direct and uplifting energy, and to find new meaning in the term “embodied empowerment.” By building a greater and deeper awareness of the subtle light energies within, we can invoke a state of quiet and calm in mind, body, and spirit.

Marisa Chiang

Monday

As a yoga teacher, Marisa’s classes help students to experience the connection between their own body, mind and breath. The hope is that students walk out of the class empowered and rejuvenated to be and feel themselves, while also building an inner strength to seek and be a positive change force off the mat. Marisa wants to create spaces that cultivate joy, strength and healing. Marisa has practiced yoga since 2003, and has been teaching a mix of vinyasa, restorative and slow flow yoga since early 2017. She completed her 200 hours of yoga teacher training with the Prana Yoga Studio in Central Square.

Purvi Patel

Monday & Wednesday

Purvi first discovered yoga at university and practiced it sporadically, primarily as a mechanism for stress and pain management. Over the years yoga became integral to maintaining a sense of balance. She completed her 200-hour certification in 2016, followed by her 500-hour certification in 2020 with Health Yoga Life. Yoga continues to bring Purvi the gifts of self-awareness, compassion, and confidence on the journey to realizing the authentic self. Her passion for sharing the wisdom and transformative power of yoga is the motivating force behind her desire to empower students to connect with their inner guide through asana, breath, mindfulness, and meditation. Off the mat, Purvi is an environmental engineer and works in the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and loves to dance (particularly belly dance, kathak dance, and Latin styles), spend time with her dog, and actively connect with her partner (who also teaches yoga), family and friends.
